On the Eastern end (Elgin) it is hoped to connect to the yet undeveloped Eire to Pittsbugh trail near Lowell. Nothing is currntly (2024) planned.
On the western end (Union City) it is hoped to extend the trail into the business district. Nothing is currntly (2024) planned.
